Voodoo Experience is a multi-day music and arts festival in New Orleans, Louisiana that was originally held on Halloween weekend in 1999. It has since moved between the weekend before Halloween and Halloween weekend throughout the years. The festival returned to Halloween weekend in 2009.
Voodoo began announcing the 2011 line-up on June 1, three weeks earlier than normal with the single announcement that “Soundgarden has joined the ritual.” This will be the first time Soundgarden has played the Voodoo Experience and it will the band’s only US festival date of 2011. In their email newsletter and via social networks Voodoo promised to continue to announce “additional bands over the next couple of weeks.” Soundgarden has not played a show in New Orleans since 1996.
